The Love for Sortings!

I love working on horses and around cattle! To ride a horse brings me the same joy that some people get from riding ATV's and dirt bikes. When I'm riding a horse and I get to sort and play with cattle it brings me the same joy as if you took the ATV's out in the rain and mud. Then when I get to compete against others and show off my skills its just like the thrill of a football or basket ball game. I love showing up to sortings in an old truck and trailer, so when everybody thinks I'm some pathetic cowboy from the country I get the joy of laffing in there faces when I beet them and take grand champion! That shows people not to judge! Doing this event and playing with horses and cattle is something I love and no matter what I do with my life after high school, I will always carry this love with me and I will never stop doing it! Everything I now I learned from my father (my mother and sisters taught me about horses but my dad taught me how to use that on cattle)! I love that man and I thank him for giving me this passion! I will never forget it!

Ride Em Cowboy

Bronc riding! I love it, wish I could do more of it! The person who taught me how to ride was my father Kevin Shaw. Almost everything I no about horses I learned from him. So when I wanted to ride broncs I already new how to do it without Even learning. This is possible because I've been riding horses since I was 2 and now I'm 16. So over the years I've had plenty of horses buck with me and for some reason every time it happened I liked it. My dad taught me that when riding a pitching horse I should always sit sit strait, stay in the center of the saddle, squeeze my legs, look strait between the horses ears, no the rhythm of the horse, and hang on no matter what. He said if u hit the ground bonce up and go get your horses and jump back in the saddle. Most of the time my father would yell stay hooked or ride em cowboy! My father is my inspiration for bronc riding I just hope I'm making him proud! I also hope he gets a good laugh when eventually I hit the ground! That's where I get my love for bronc riding!

Roll away!

September 18, 2010! That was the date of my third big wreck so far in my life. It was a normal day and I was going to pick up a bale of hay in my fathers truck. I cant remember exactly. But I'm just going off of what people told my. Anyway, I was driving down a dirt rode going about 55 to 60 mph when I hit a bad spot in the road. At that point I was sucked into the right ditch when I jerked the wheel to get back on the road I over corrected and went to the other side and jerked the wheel again. Once more I over corrected and started going side ways down the road aimed for the right ditch again. Where I come from our ditches r not level with the road, there about 4 or 5 feet higher. Therefore when I hit the ditch it sent the truck into the air doing a barrel role. It rolled three times in the air then hit the ground and rolled 2 more times. When it finally came to a stop it was on its top with the wheels facing up and the drivers side slanted about 4 feet in the air. When I woke up I climbed out, picked up my hat and started walking. Some guy that knew my dad picked me up and took me home where my dad took me to the hospital. At that point i realized how bad I was I had a 2 in. wide 1 in. deep gash on my neck, my left arm was all cut up from the mirror shattering on it and I had a small cut on my forehead. So my left arm, neck, and face was coated in a layer of blood and dirt. I got cleaned up, 20 stitches put in me and some medicine and I was ready to go. God saved my life for the third time and I am nothing but grateful.

Rain Rain go Away

When I was 9 or 10 I was out in a pasture riding a horse with my dad and 2 sisters. We were out checking cattle at the back of one of our pastures about 4 or 5 miles away from our truck when it started drizzling. We dint evan know that it was supposed to rain that day so we start heading back home. In a couple minuit's it starts poring down. then it starts hailing and last but not least the lightning starts rolling in. So at this point our horses are in an all out run back to our truck. Witch by the way was a miracle gifted from God because we could not evan see the ears of our horses threw the rain. as the rain fell down down down and the thunder boomed across the sky we rode our horse and threw sheer luck and guidance from the lord we made it back to the truck. Witch was a miracle because the Pasteur we rode threw was full of snakes, wild animals, huge cactus bushes, and deep trenches and not one of us got hurt in any way. We where just a little wet at the end of the day! The lesson to learn from this is always trust your horse, family and God!

A Swing and a Miss

This weekend I went to Dallas to see the Rangers play Seattle! My first Pro. baseball game. it was exiting except for the fact that the game got delayed because of rain and i dint get back home till 1:00am this morning (Dallas to Lubbock takes 7 hours). the rangers scored the first hit and home run. I was happy that it went so well because now I'm a bigger Rangers fan.
Thanks for reading me first blog.
